Melissa Sherbondy
Melissa believes in finishing what she starts, whether it is training for a run, completing a certification, or setting a goal and working to achieve it. After starting her career as a group fitness instructor in 2005 (trained by Erin!), she has now come full circle to work for RT+, gaining knowledge and experience along the way. After many years of teaching group classes, taking the leap to personal training was the natural next step.
While sharpening her group instructor skills, Melissa obtained her first Pilates mat certification in 2006. After practicing the method and noticing the changes in her own body, she became a steadfast believer and eventually went on to complete a 450 hour comprehensive certification through PHI Pilates in Pittsburgh. Melissa was fortunate to have been mentored for the Pilates Method Alliance certification exam by Christine Romani-Ruby, a leader in the field. Melissa is now one of two of the only comprehensively certified Pilates teacher in State College and has received training in Mat, Reformer, Chair, Cadillac and Barrels.
Melissa finds joy teaching to clients of all levels, but the client with a special need or goal keeps her challenged and inspired. Melissa’s teaching style is patient and compassionate and she has always felt that fitness is for everyone: from the teenage athlete training for a sport to the senior who wishes to maintain independence. Do you have a goal that you are reaching for? Are you looking for results for life? Melissa will help you from the start to the finish and beyond!
